In Charlotte, North Carolina, what started as a child’s fear of monsters turned into a real-life infestation scenario for Ashley Class. Her 3-year-old daughter, influenced by the film "Monsters Inc.," was terrified of noises she claimed were monsters in her bedroom walls. To comfort her, Class even crafted a homemade "monster spray" from water. However, the truth behind the noises was far more tangible: a massive bee colony had taken residence in the walls of their century-old home.

The situation escalated when Class noticed bees around her attic chimney and subsequently hired a beekeeper who utilized a thermal camera to uncover the large bee colony hidden behind the walls. The beekeeper’s initial extraction revealed 20,000 bees and 100 pounds of honeycomb. As the removal continued, it became evident that the colony consisted of approximately 50,000 bees, including a queen bee that was later saved and relocated.

The extraction process proved to be complex and costly, resulting in an estimated $20,000 in damages, including harm to the home’s electrical wiring. Despite this, Class’s homeowner’s insurance did not cover the expenses related to the bee removal. Throughout this ordeal, Class shared updates on TikTok, garnering over 9 million views, turning her and the beekeeper, now dubbed a "monster hunter" by her daughter, into viral sensations.
