Insurance adjusters have given city officials a quote of $247,000 for the rebuilding of the Kimberly Fire and Rescue station.
That word came Monday night from Mayor Bob Ellerbrock at the city council’s regular session. Ellerbrock said that the figure did not include the cost of a new foundation slab for the building. That will have to be relaid because the existing slab — the only remaining part of the station house destroyed by the April 2014 tornado — is not thick enough for the new structure.
“The new building will have to be built up to code, which includes handicap-accessible restrooms, both men’s and women’s,” Ellerbrock said.
