High towing fees in Ottawa are becoming “out of control” without regulation, say industry experts. An Ottawa woman recently got hit with a $1,800 towing fee after a fender bender. She claims the company took her car to the wrong garage. According to Kevin Jamieson, a local collision centre manager, that price tag is becoming the norm.“An average tow bill, over a year ago, used to be in the $275 range for an accident, which a lot of people think was exorbitant,” he said. “But compared to the tow bills today, its actually quite cheap.” “Its just out of control. There are no controls, period,” he added.
