Duplex Fire Forces Out Both Families

Two families were forced from their home Monday morning after a fire ignited in their duplex. Fire crews responded to the scene near 77th & Kessler lane after a woman on the southside of the duplex called to report the fire around 3:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they found a significant fire and smoke coming from the back of the homes. The woman said she was sleeping but woke up when she heard the smoke alarm go off. She was able to help the two adults and three children in her duplex get out safely. In all five adults and four children escaped the fire safely.
