Fatal Crash Closes Oregon Interstate for Hours

A woman died when her car crossed into oncoming traffic on Interstate 5 and hit a semi truck and trailer Thursday morning. The driver of the semi truck was taken by ambulance to the hospital.The crash investigation and cleanup brought I-5 to a halt in both directions. Investigators said it appears the woman was northbound on I-5 in a passenger car around 10:39 a.m. when her vehicle traveled across the median and into southbound lanes. The car hit a southbound semi. After impact, the semi traveled across the median into the northbound lanes, where it jackknifed and overturned, state police said.
