Firefighter Faces Charges of Arson, Insurance Fraud

A Strawberry Point firefighter is on leave after being charged with arson and insurance fraud. According to criminal complaints filed this month in Buchanan County, 41-year-old Terry R. Groth of Strawberry Point is accused of setting fire to his own truck in 2011. Authorities say shortly before midnight Sept. 10, 2011, a truck fire was reported to the sheriff’s office. The Lamont Fire Department responded and put out the fire south of 100th Street on Yancy Avenue. The truck was registered to Groth.
