Georgia Lawmakers Eye Firefighters’ Workers’ Compensation Bill

They put their lives on the line to protect your life and the lives of your loved ones. Now firefighters around the state are calling on lawmakers to look out for them. Right now, firefighters can only collect workers’ compensation if they’re injured on the job, but not if they contract a life-threatening disease from doing their jobs. Lawmakers will soon start debating a pair of bills that would make sure firefighters get workers’ compensation if they come down with an illness like cancer or heart and lung disease because of their jobs.
