Large Fire at Kansas Refinery Contained

A cooling tower started a large fire that broke out at a refinery in Harper County.Crews were called to the Mag-Plant, 1500 Northwest 100 Ave., just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. They arrived to find thick, black smoke and large flames showing from the roof of the building. Thomas Winter, Harper County Emergency Manager, said the area was cleared in about a mile radius until the fire was out. Everyone inside the building managed to escape. Crews from Attica, Zenda and Spivey were called to assist.
