Long Road Ahead For Those Left Homeless After ’Macroburst’ Storm

The storm may have calmed, but for residents whose homes, vehicles and properties sustained the most damage this week, the real problems are just beginning. Winds of more than 85 miles-per-hour tore through Gloucester County on Tuesday in an event meteorologists are calling a "macroburst" — which is categorized as a downburst storm more than 2.5 miles in diameter — with straight line winds. The storm’s howling winds and rain ripped roofs off of sheds and houses, downed trees and utility poles and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of homes.
