MAX bus, SUV collide in Birmingham, Ala.

A MAX bus was involved in a head-on collision with an SUV near Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham’s West End community on Thursday morning. The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on Goldwire Street near the 6th Avenue Southwest intersection. Emergency crews have responded to the scene and their vehicles are blocking Goldwire Street. The SUV has already been removed by a wrecker. Police say a male driver of the SUV ran away from the scene. They are searching for him and say he may be injured.
