A new round of storms swept northern Arizona and metropolitan Phoenix on Saturday. The skies above downtown Phoenix were completely gray by the early afternoon as strong winds and a cascade of rain hit the region. The storm forced authorities to close a section of Interstate 17 for more than hour because of flooding. Flight departures and landings resumed about 3:30 p.m. after they were halted for an hour at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. A window at Terminal 4 was broken by strong gusts of wind during the storm.
