Oklahoma leads the nation in the percentage of uninsured drivers, with an estimated 600,000 of them on the roads.
Thats more than one in four, according to Insurance Commissioner John Doak, who says hes been waging battle for five years to try and cut into that number. The recent death of Oklahoma City sportscasting legend Bob Barry, Jr. was tragic, Doak says. The tragedy was only compounded by the fact that not only was the driver accused of killing him in the country illegally, he was also driving without a license and without insurance. But clearly, driving without insurance is something all too many Oklahomans do.
