BP says it has paid more than $12 million in claims arising from a multistate recall of incorrectly formulated gasoline that damaged some vehicles mechanical components. BP spokesman Scott Dean tells The Times of Munster those claims were paid after the company processed about 14,000 recall claims. He says BP is still processing legitimate claims for which its received documentation. But Dean says several thousand people whove filed claims havent produced the needed documents or havent responded to inquiries from the company.
