Lightning Likely Source Of Apartment Blaze

Investigators think lightning started a fire at a northwest Harris County apartment complex. Crews got the call from the Retreat at Steeplechase complex just before 9 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told first responders the fire started while a thunderstorm was raging. “There are currently four families that have been displaced. They’ll be relocated right now to another location within this complex,” said Mike Shinn with the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department. There was one injury: one of the firefighters suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital.
