The monsoon made a brief, but memorable appearance late Monday night with some quick and heavy storms. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning to Maricopa County around 10:18 p.m. and extended it until 10:45 p.m. for central-north central Maricopa County. A large cell was observed by meteorologists over the Scottsdale and Mesa area traveling west. By Tuesday morning, storm damage was observed just south of the Paradise Valley Mall. Trees were uprooted and limbs had fallen on top of vehicles.
