A 74-year-old man from the Village of Chitty Chatty in The Villages, Florida, is currently facing felony fraud charges for an allegedly fraudulent worker’s compensation claim. Previously employed at Carpet One at La Plaza Grande, he is accused of filing claims for shoulder and back injuries that were reportedly not work-related. The Florida Department of Financial Services indicates that the individual sought medical treatments without proper authorization from Carpet One’s workers’ compensation carrier and falsely claimed these injuries occurred at work.

During a deposition, it is alleged that he committed perjury by stating he had no income other than Social Security, despite evidence of receiving payments from another company. The insurance carrier is now seeking $17,466 in restitution. This case is part of a broader legal history for the individual, which includes a previous incident in 2020 where he was charged with criminal mischief for damaging a former employer’s property. He has also faced legal challenges related to domestic violence and probation violations in the past.
