Isolated patchy ice on pavement possible late tonight into
Wednesday morning...
A strong cold front will bring frigid air into central North
Carolina tonight. While most of the wet ground from recent rains
will dry up as drier air sweeps in with gusty winds, any residual
puddles and areas of runoff have the potential to freeze quickly
late tonight into Wednesday morning as temperatures plummet below
freezing. However, due to the arriving dry air, widespread icy
roads or black ice is not expected.
Drivers late tonight through Wednesday morning should remain
alert for possible isolated icy spots or patchy black ice through
mid morning Wednesday.
