The next statement will be issued this evening at 800 PM CDT.
There will be an increased threat for wildfires across most of
Eastern NC today until around sunset. The combination of
low relative humidity values of 20 to 25 percent this afternoon,
southwesterly wind gusts up to around 20 mph, and dry ground
fuels will allow any fires to quickly spread.
Outdoor burning today is discouraged. Please refer to your local
burn permitting authority on whether you can burn. If you do burn,
use extreme caution and ensure fire suppression equipment is
readily available.
