At 631 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Riegelwood, or 14 miles northwest of Leland, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Leland, Northwest, Long Creek, Phoenix, Ashton, Wrightsboro, Belville, Navassa, St. Helena, and Sandy Creek. This includes the following highways... US Route 17 in Brunswick County near mile marker 44.
